Yoga Teacher, De Jur has been a yoga devotee since 2001 after major surgery. Her yoga path continues to be a personal exploration and evolution. That evolution inspired her to become a yoga therapist trained at Loyola Marymount University. She struck up a friendship with a yoga teacher that offers classes in the CSEC unit (Commercially Sexually Exploited Children) at juvenile hall. That friendship sparked an interest that created a deep dive into learning everything she could about sex and human trafficking, trauma, how it affects victims and survivors and how yoga can help with embodiment, self-regulation and heal trauma. This specialized training aided her in finding her niche to serve at-risk, under-resourced and highly traumatized communities and populations that show up with a myriad of emotional, physical and psychological damage that yoga can help. She teaches youth in the juvenile justice system, probation camps and its staff, shelters, group homes, mental health centers, direct services programs, and incarcerated and formerly incarcerated adults around LA County. De Jur is humbled and grateful to call Hala Khouri, Dr. Larry Payne and James Fox her teachers and mentors in victim centered trauma informed, therapeutic, accessible yoga. De Jur is a contributor to the Yoga Service Council’s best practices book series “Best Practices for Yoga in the Criminal Justice System”. She moonlights as a flight attendant. De Jur loves the work that she does.

I am the Marketing Energy behind our annual Soul Long Beach Yoga Festivals. Originally from Kansas City, I dreamt of moving to a different state. Five years ago that dream came true when I relocated to California. I’ve always had a passion for networking and helping people get resources by either connecting them with people for mutual benefit or helping them myself. Slowing I started getting into Yoga, (thanks to Pam) and I began to see the importance of physical but more importantly mental health and forgiveness of oneself. Yoga has helped me improve in many areas of my life and because of this I was excited to join the team to help spread awareness of Yoga in our communities. Laura is a 200 hour registered yoga teacher, who is passionate about spreading this ancient art with the world around her.
She has practiced yoga for over half of her life, since she was 15 years old. Her yoga began very simply, with just a few poses and some breathing techniques she learnt out of a book her Mum had.
She had no idea of the depth and breadth of yoga tradition at that point, but it didn't matter. Those few poses helped her not only to find strength and flexibility in her body, but also stillness and calm in her mind. She was hooked!
Laura has always had an anxious disposition, worrying about a million things all the time. She is naturally a busy, active person and often finds it hard to listen to her body and her innermost being.
Yoga helps her to slow down and reconnect with herself and her values. When the world around her is hectic and constantly shouting for attention, yoga acts as her compass, keeping her centered on her path, and pouring her energies into what matters most, making the world a better place to be!

Since 1966, Martin has been involved in music. By 1968 he was teaching his peers and performing on many stages. Since then he has gone from his first instrument, guitar, onto many other instruments. He has appeared on many stages, television, theater, motion picture, schools, preschool, universities (lectured at UCLA, Cal State Fullerton, etc.) also libraries and festivals.Since 1975, he’s conducted scholarly research and has become a well-known specialist in the instruments of the ancient American especially his ancestral Mexico. Is in this latter area that he is most well-known for!
He has always been involved in sound but at age 11, meditation changed his life forever! He took meditation with him on the journey through his life and it has helped him in inumerable ways!
Martin’s work/art is combining more than ever, his experiences with sound; his ancestral instruments; a life of meditation, teaching and performing and his new studies in neuroscience and Technology. So now he is basically a traditional /ceremonial musician but also a modern composer and soundworker.
One of the most important things but he will be giving knowledge on is the importance of knowing your self, your cultural self and combined with yoga and healthy living, he believes it will lead us to a clearer understanding that we are all together on this planet with the same social justice for everyone! Hola! I'm Jomally Fernandez, founder of SOUL WARRIOR YOGA in sunny San Diego, CA. My yoga journey began 2003, but it wasn't until issues with Lupus Nephritis threatened my life that I took a leap of faith and decided to devote myself to the teachings & practice of Hatha yoga. I completed my 200-hour Hatha Yoga Teacher Training in 2013, 100- hour Prenatal and Postnatal Yoga Training 2014, Level II Reiki Practitioner in 2016 and 20-hour Restorative Yoga Training in 2018. I'm an island girl from Puerto Rico, ocean lover and life enthusiast! My biggest role is as new mommy to Ananda Maya and proud partner to Brian. I’m a kidney transplant recipient and breast cancer survivor; my yoga practice carried me through my health challenges and allowed me to find a deep connection, love and respect for my body, while also allowing me the stillness of mind and spirit to overcome the emotional challenges associated with them. When off the mat you can catch me at Fiesta Island with my doggies, riding my beach cruiser around Clairemont or dancing while I cook. I am thrilled to share my energy, knowledge and experiences with all those who seek it.

Jacquie “Sunny” Barbee is an E-RYT 200 hr yoga teacher living in the Panhandle of Florida. After practicing yoga to help with her chronic illness and anxiety for several year, she made the dive into yoga teacher training in 2016. While in YTT Sunny realized there was a need for more teachers that didn’t fit the stereotypical “yoga body” image like her and that she could make a difference in helping people see that yoga is for every body. She is able to share with others how to customize their practice to fit their body, whether that body is larger, aging, or living illness or injury, much like she does with her own practice. Creating safe spaces where the student can connect and make peace with their bodies is what Sunny loves most about teaching yoga. She gets very excited when her students are able to find variations of poses that fit their body comfortably. Off the mat Sunny enjoys hiking, camping and going to the beach with her husband and daughter. You can contact Sunny at
